What do I wear?
Wear something comfortable and clothing that can stretch. To get the most out of your practice, you do not want oversized clothes. Sweatpants are fine if they have a band to keep them from going below your ankle. Wide-leg or extra long pants can get in the way and can cause injury. T-shirts are great but best if they stay put around your hips. It can be frustrating to do a beginning pose and have your T-shirt fall over your face, or have your pants legs get under your feet.

When should I arrive for class?
Arrive early for class. Things always take longer than you think. Come 5-10 minutes before class to get set up, as we like to start class right on time. Occasionally things happen to delay us. On those rare occasions that you arrive a few minutes late, please slip in as quietly as possible.

Can I wear shoes into the studio?
For safety reasons, Yoga is best practiced in bare feet; bare feet help with gripping your mat and prevents slipping. Leave your shoes in the cubbies outside the door. You are welcome to bring valuables into the studio.

What if I don’t even know what “downdog” is?
That’s okay! The instructors will describe the poses and demonstrate as needed. We all had a first time in a yoga studio and remember what it was like to be unsure of what to do.

What should I bring with me?
Of course, bring your mat. We have a few mats for you to borrow if you are new to yoga and just trying it out. We also have additional blocks you may borrow. It is also a good idea to bring a small towel and a bottle of water with you: hydration is key.

Is it okay to wear perfume?
Please do not apply perfume or cologne right before class. You will get hot and sweaty as we practice, and those fragrances may become “odors”. Additionally, many people are allergic to certain fragrances.

Are cell phones and smartwatches allowed?
Please turn off your cell phone before class and do not bring it to your mat. You may wear your smartwatch or fitness tracker with notifications turned to silent. You need to have all your attention on the practice without the distractions that come with those devices.

What is savasana?
This is the reward for your workout. At the end we relax on our mats, close our eyes, focus on our breath, and feel the weight of our body against the floor as we cool down.

Do you have anything for me to clean off my mat?
We have cleaning supplies for your mat and likewise you may store your mat on the racks at the studio (for your convenience). If you are borrowing one of the studio’s mats, be sure to wipe it down and return it to its rightful place at the end of class.

How do I pay for a class?
You may sign-up and pay on the website if you are using a credit card. We also accept Venmo and plain ol’ cash. If you are having trouble, just come into the studio and we can help you get started.
